Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. About the Role
DePuy Synthes is seeking a Vice President, Corporate Communications & Brand Marketing. This role is a key member of the Global Corporate Affairs leadership team and is responsible for defining and executing a unified corporate communications and brand positioning strategy for a newly standalone DePuy Synthes.
At a moment of significant transformation, this role will shape how DePuy Synthes shows up in the world—establishing a clear corporate narrative, building trust with stakeholders, activating culture and engagement internally, and protecting and enhancing the company’s reputation. The Vice President will lead integrated communications and brand capabilities that support business priorities, enable leaders, and connect employees globally.
The role partners closely with the DPS CEO and Executive Committee, senior business and functional leaders, and external stakeholders, serving as a trusted advisor and steward of the DePuy Synthes corporate voice and brand.

Define and establish the corporate identity, voice, and reputation of DePuy Synthes as a standalone global company
Build confidence and trust with external stakeholders—including media, investors, and partners—during and beyond the separation

Ensure the DePuy Synthes brand is consistently expressed, protected, and elevated across all channels and markets

Scope of Responsibility
The Vice President has end-to-end accountability for DePuy Synthes corporate communications and brand, including:
Brand Management – Brand strategy, operations, governance, creative development, advertising, and promotion
Media Relations & Reputation Management – Proactive and reactive media engagement, issues preparedness, and crisis response
Financial Communications – Corporate financial storytelling and investor communications in support of business performance and milestones
Culture & Employee Communications – Enterprise internal communications, change communications, leadership messaging, and ownership and governance of the company intranet as a core employee engagement platform
Executive Thought Leadership – Positioning and visibility for the CEO
Key Responsibilities
Set the strategic vision and integrated plan for corporate communications and brand for DePuy Synthes as a standalone company
Serve as counselor to the CEO and Executive Committee on communications, reputation, and brand matters
Stand up and develop a high performing global Corporate Communications & Brand organization
Create and own the DePuy Synthes corporate narrative and ensure consistency across internal and external channels
Build and protect the company’s reputation through strong media, executive visibility, and issues management
Establish and govern brand standards, creative frameworks, and approval processes to ensure global consistency with local relevance
Oversee intranet strategy and evolution as a primary channel for employee engagement and alignment
Translate complex business strategy and transformation into clear, actionable communications for employees
Partner closely with Corporate Affairs, Legal, Finance, HR, and business leaders to deliver integrated, enterprise-wide communications
Advance a digital first, data informed communications and brand model
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
15+ years of experience in corporate communications, brand leadership, or related disciplines
Prior experience serving as the most senior communications leader for a company, business unit, or global enterprise
Demonstrated success leading corporate communications through transformation, change, or corporate transition
Deep expertise in media relations, executive communications, employee communications, and brand governance
Experience overseeing brand creative, advertising, and promotional activities at enterprise scale
Strong financial communications acumen
Proven ability to build trusted relationships with CEOs and senior executives
Track record of leading and developing high‑performing global teams
Healthcare, MedTech, or highly regulated industry experience strongly preferred
